This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire one of the major independently owned potato wholesalers in the North East of England, who have been trading successfully for over thirty years. They supply primarily to the fish and chip shops throughout the North East but also trade with a small amount of local convenience shops and other fruit and vegetable wholesalers. There are over one hundred and fifty regular repeat shops who get deliveries on a daily/weekly basis from their own small fleet of wagons.
The company has a first class supply chain buying directly from the farmers and also from potato merchants. They simply buy at the best price available and sell on to their customers competitively. They only sell good quality potaoes, pre-prepared by the bag, and sell circa one hundred and fity tons per week, all year round. Customers pay promptly for their goods with little credit given, ensuring that the business runs with excellent cash flow.
Recently they have introduced sales of soft drinks which has been highly successful as it means the shops no longer have to go to the cash & carry to collect cases and bottles of drinks. They have been able to source drinks from a supplier which allows them to compete favourably with other major drinks wholesalers and this market sector has grown quickly, with room for further growth.
This is a simple family trading business which has a history of continual sales and profits and has performed well during the recent recession. They have a good reputation with their customers for honesty, reliability and integrity and work on a friendly basis with their customers, some of which they have traded with for over twenty years.

The business operates from a circa 10,000 square feet warehouse which is owned by the vendors. The vendors are want to use the warehouse for their own purposes and therefore the business would need to be re located. They are however prepared to lease out the warehouse for an negotiable period of time until the new owners have found adequate facilities to run the business from. |

This is a well run family business that has traded in the potato market for over thirty years. Only recently have they introduced sales and deliveries of soft drinks, which has been an enormous success. The owners believe that there are opportunities to introduce further new lines for sale to their customers, starting with a wider selection of drinks.
The business runs comfortably and happily with their regular repeat customers. They have no advertising campaign or budget and rarely do they try to obtain new customers. All of their new business comes from word of mouth recommendations. New owners could easily implement a sales drive and increase the number of customers who would be delighted to buy from such a competitive and reliable source. |
| |
The owners would be happy to help with a smooth transfer of the business in any way possible. |
| |
The owners have all decided that they would now like to move on to new business interests. |
