THE BUSINESS
Advent Business Sales are pleased to offer this established ceramics and events organising company for sale.
The business has been established for over 6 years, and has been owned by our client for the last 5.
The business is being sold now as competing priorities are impacting on our client’s ability to concentrate fully on the business. The vendor has advised that she would be happy to assist with a handover if required.
Trading from a light and airy studio, the business offers individuals, families or groups the opportunity to decorate a range of pottery with their own designs. These are then glazed and subsequently fired in the kiln, located to the back of the studio. A wide range of mugs, pots, bowls and ceramics are held in stock, offering a massive choice to customers.
Individual customers tend to pop in on an ad hoc basis, although the majority of sales are achieved through parties which are bookable.
The customer base is varied, ranging from local WI groups through to more traditional
children’s parties. Balloons and sundry party materials are provided and a number of events are held off site. In addition to the core party activity, retail sales form a significant element of the business turnover.
There is an excellent website included within the consideration price.

Location: |
Our client’s delightful shop and studio is located within a large out of town retail park in Northamptonshire. The park supports an eclectic range of individual businesses. Close to the studio is a garden centre, cafe, butchers, pet shop and landscaping business. There are a variety of other retail businesses within the centre, and two pubs nearby. Ample free car parking is provided for customers and staff, and the centre is well served by local buses.
Northamptonshire is centrally located and benefits from an excellent communications infrastructure. The M1 motorway passes through the county of a north/south axis and there are excellent road and rail links to London some 60 miles to the south-east of the town of Northampton. There is an international airport at Luton, with East Midlands airport and Birmingham International within easy reach.
Northamptonshire has a large population, with a significant number of children and teenagers, which form the core market for this established business. |

This successful business affords many opportunities to introduce alternative product lines and services.
1. The ceramics range could be expanded, and opportunities to sell jewellery and giftware are considerable.
2. For an individual with pottery skills, there would be the opportunity to undertake commissions.
3. Our client has recently introduced a new line in wedding plates, where guests’ signatures are added to a plate for the bride and groom. This could easily be marketed to a much wider audience.
4. It would also be feasible to introduce a potter’s wheel in the studio.
